Learn what the Bible says about tithing, where Westwood lands, and use our calculator to find a starting point.
"Tithe" literally means a tenth. God's people brought the first tenth of their harvest and income as an act of worship and trust (Leviticus 27:30, Proverbs 3:9, Malachi 3:10). In the New Testament, Jesus affirms generosity while pointing at the heart behind it — giving freely, cheerfully, and sacrificially (Matthew 23:23, 2 Corinthians 9:6–7, Mark 12:41–44).
We see the tithe — 10% — as a helpful, historic starting point rather than a legalistic rule. Giving is an act of worship and trust, not a membership fee. If 10% feels impossible right now, start somewhere and grow; if God has blessed you with abundance, consider it a floor rather than a ceiling. Give freely and cheerfully — never under compulsion.
